Every contribution counts.

Understand what earns points, how your score is calculated, and what it takes to reach the next level.

PUBLIC SOURCE METHODOLOGY

Selected method: source contribution points.

Base-only control

Methodology version pmc-source-base-v1. Current action values remain governed by the active ranking policy shown below.

Public source points add the current value of each distinct eligible work credited to a person. The evidenced role determines the credit; repeated links or newsletter mentions do not multiply it. The total is uncapped. Video views add no public points.

Newsletter authorship earns one authored-work credit per verified person and newsletter, currently 10 points, shared with Guides & insights. Co-authors qualify individually. Issues, imports and subscriber counts do not multiply the credit. Dated authorship evidence determines the period; undated credits appear in lifetime rankings only. Publisher accounts receive no personal points.

Public source points = sum of current eligible contribution values. Reach bonus = 0.

Example using the current values: one original video creation (8 points) plus one separately credited resource (6 points) gives 14 source points. This is a synthetic pair of distinct eligible works, not a claim about any contributor.

The public board’s chosen period determines which eligible source dates count. Lifetime is the control used for private comparisons; the private 30- or 90-day observation window does not restrict the publication dates in that lifetime base.

Public source points

Uncapped recognition of sourced work and roles. They do not establish a member account, an Expert score or a member level.

Member combined score

Verified member pillars are normalised and weighted into a score out of 100. The current weights and factors are shown in the member section below.

Earned XP and awards

Recorded lifetime base awards determine member levels. Current ranking changes do not rewrite earned XP or finalised historical awards; corrections require a recorded reversal.

How equal source points are ranked

Equal unrounded points share a competition rank. The next rank skips the tied positions. Alphabetical ordering within a tie does not break it.

Synthetic totals only. These are not real contributors.

Private reach candidate: formula and synthetic examples
Not validated or selected for public rankings.

This candidate is an evaluation method only. The arithmetic below demonstrates its rules; it is not evidence that reach improves a ranking or a result from collected video data.

A private comparison uses the current lifetime source ranking as its base. A work needs compatible observations on the exact start and current end reporting days of a 30- or 90-day window in Europe/London. The observed increase is the end count minus the start count. Expired observations, changed definitions, declining counters and incomplete creator attribution withhold the bonus.

Work bonus = min(8, log₂(1 + observed view increase / 1,000)).
Creator allocation = work bonus × reviewed creator share.
Person bonus = min(sum of eligible creator allocations, 25% of base points).
Candidate points = lifetime base points + person bonus.

All following values are synthetic. They describe an exact observed increase, not a rounded display count, current total audience or a forecast.

A work can add at most 8 bonus points before its reviewed shares are applied.

1,0001log₂(2)
15,0004log₂(16)
255,00088-point work cap
1,000,00088-point work cap

At 255,000 or more additional views, the work cap stays at 8. The entire work is counted once, then divided using reviewed shares. A founder title, channel name or guest appearance does not establish a creator share.

Sharing a work’s bonus

A synthetic work with 15,000 additional views has a bonus of 4. Reviewed shares of 75% and 25% allocate 3 and 1 points. The two allocations still total 4; each person’s own cap is then applied.

Unavailable is different from zero. Two valid, comparable counts with no increase produce an exact zero work bonus. Missing history or unconfirmed shares make that work unavailable for comparison, not zero views or a zero-valued assessment. When evidence is incomplete, the private report identifies the withheld works. The public base points remain unchanged.

What this method cannot establish

  • Uncapped base points favour a larger volume of credited work and can favour an older back catalogue. A capped reach bonus cannot fix unlimited base volume or that back-catalogue advantage.
  • Contribution counts and viewing activity do not establish quality, usefulness or expertise. The selected control does not claim to measure those outcomes.
  • Language and format can remain unknown. They must not be inferred from a person’s name or used as guessed explanations for ranking differences.
  • Newer work may lack a full 30- or 90-day observation history. Missing coverage cannot validate the private candidate or justify selecting it for the public ranking.
VERIFIED MEMBER SCORING

35% Expert + 35% Contributor + 30% Engagement

Member Overall ranks by your combined score out of 100. Public source contributors use separate uncapped contribution points. Each pillar is scored out of 100 first, then weighted: Expert × 0.35 + Contributor × 0.35 + Engagement × 0.3. Lifetime earned points set your level separately.

For example, Expert 40, Contributor 60 and Engagement 20 produce a combined score of 41 / 100. Open each pillar below to see its factors and how points are counted.

Expert Score (35%)

External credibility & verified expertise

+

Moderators verify your evidence and quantity. Each factor uses its latest approved assessment; repeat claims do not stack. Expired evidence contributes zero to the current score, without reviving an older claim. The ten factor limits sum to 100. Missing evidence earns no Expert points; audience sizes and credentials are never guessed from a profile or a catalogue mention.

CREDIT FOR THE WORK

Contributions across the collective.

Published catalogue entries credit the named people who authored or contributed to the original work. Each distinct contribution counts once per person. Repeated imports, duplicate links and repeated newsletter coverage do not create extra credit. Publisher organisations and unverified identities do not receive individual points.

Public contribution scores are recalculated from published credits and their source identities. These credits are separate from member accounts: matching names do not link accounts or transfer points. They are uncapped contribution points, not scores out of 100. Expertise is unassessed here; no zero-valued Expert or member Engagement pillar is implied. Public recognition does not grant member privileges.

A sourced external discussion receives 2 contribution points. Its author is not treated as a PMC member commenter. Questions and answers submitted by members keep their own point values in the Engagement pillar. Current scores are recalculated using the active ranking factors. Changes to ranking rules recalculate current standings and future awards. Earned lifetime points retain their original rule version, level thresholds stay fixed, and finalised awards remain historical records.

Articles share one authorship award equally between verified coauthors. A substantive expert contribution earns 2 points per person and work; an author cannot also earn expert points for the same work. Publisher credit, mentions and curation earn no article points. Duplicate appearances do not earn another award. Claimed and unclaimed editorial profiles follow the same rules.

Creation, sharing, discovery, recommendation, clarification, show hosting and guest appearances keep distinct source labels. A newsletter credit with unspecified activity is labelled that way and receives the news credit value. A reshare of a video does not receive its creator’s points. Founder titles and unsupported mentions do not establish authorship. Video views do not award points.

The 2026 board defaults to year to date. Rolling 30- and 90-day views use Europe/London calendar dates and stay within the selected year. Lifetime includes older and genuinely undated work. Invalid or future dates are excluded. Publication dates and later newsletter coverage remain distinct; the original 2025 annual recognition is preserved.

SMALL STEPS. REAL PROGRESS.

Nine levels to grow through.

Your member avatar displays your lifetime level. Recorded base awards for verified expertise, contributions and engagement count towards these fixed ranges. Your member dashboard and profile show how many points you need next; changing the ranking period does not reset your level.

A fair place to participate.

  • All submissions are reviewed. Pending and rejected work does not award points. Withdrawn work contributes no current ranking points; recorded lifetime awards are handled separately.
  • Repeated source links and repeated answers, comments, reviews, quotes, or recommendations on the same page are blocked while pending or published. A maximum of 20 submissions is accepted per member per day.
  • Moderators cannot approve their own work. They check original authorship, evidence, relevance, and duplicate content before publishing.
  • Top 100 reviews, quotes, and written recommendations require a current Top 100 place in the lifetime overall ranking and earned points, both when submitting and when publishing.
  • Resource endorsement badges are available to the current Top 100 in the lifetime overall ranking with earned points. One endorsement counts per member and resource. You can remove it at any time. These endorsements do not award points, and only endorsements from currently eligible members are counted.
  • Members can withdraw contributions or hide their participation profile. Withdrawn work is removed from current scores; hidden profiles do not appear in rankings. Removing work does not silently erase earned lifetime points; an administrator must record a reasoned reversal to correct an award.
  • Monthly and yearly member rankings use the original submission date in Europe/London and include only work approved by the snapshot time. Review dates are recorded separately. Moderators finalise awards after a period closes; each new award stores its rules and cutoff time and is not recalculated later.
  • There are no points for signing up, clicking share, or repeatedly visiting a page. Speaking roles and private invitations are coming soon; no award ceremony date is announced.
