Amazon introduces 1-hour and 3-hour delivery in hundreds of cities
Amazon has launched 1-hour and 3-hour delivery options across a growing number of US cities, covering over 90,000 products typically found in local supercentres: including everyday household essentials, electronics, clothing, and over-the-counter medications. One-hour delivery is available in hundreds of cities, including parts of Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.; 3-hour delivery is available in over 2,000 cities and towns.

What changed
Prime members pay $9.99 for 1-hour delivery and $4.99 for 3-hour delivery. Non-members pay $19.99 and $14.99, respectively. The company is also testing Amazon Now in select locations, offering delivery in approximately 30 minutes or less on thousands of everyday essentials. The expansion is powered by Amazon's existing Same-Day delivery infrastructure, with AI-driven inventory placement algorithms enabling faster fulfilment without new physical infrastructure.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means products competing with Amazon's expanding same-day offer face increasing pressure to meet delivery speed expectations: and advertisers promoting competing services should be aware that Amazon's capability gap with traditional retail is narrowing further.
