OpenAI Codex now runs directly in Chrome on macOS and Windows
OpenAI has rolled out Codex integration directly inside Chrome on macOS and Windows. Codex can now use browser context: the current tab, the page content, and the active workflow: to execute coding tasks in-place, rather than requiring the user to switch to a separate environment.

What changed
The integration follows the broader OpenAI strategy of placing AI capability at the point of user activity rather than requiring task switching.
For marketing-engineering teams running tagging, conversion-tracking, or front-end performance work directly in browsers, the in-Chrome Codex integration meaningfully reduces the friction of using AI for the diagnostic and remediation tasks that have historically required deep dev-tools work.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means measurement and martech-engineering teams should test Codex-in-Chrome against the daily diagnostic workflow. Particularly relevant for teams maintaining tag implementations across many client sites, where the in-browser context awareness can replace several minutes of dev-tools navigation per diagnostic session.
