UCP Merchant Centre onboarding guide published
Google has published the official onboarding guide for the Universal Commerce Protocol in Merchant Centre. UCP enables a native checkout button on eligible product listings in AI Mode and on Gemini.

What changed
The Merchant Centre integration is rolling out gradually in the US in the coming months. The three-step process: complete the technical implementation from the UCP developer guide; fill out the interest form; await Google's notification and sandbox access to validate the UCP profile, identity linking, and native checkout APIs. Merchant Centre will alert accounts if feed attributes, returns, or account configuration require updates before onboarding can proceed.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means completing the technical implementation now if UCP is on your roadmap: the interest form queue will lengthen as more merchants register, and the sandbox validation step requires lead time before the rollout reaches your account.
