Amazon stops accepting credit cards from select sellers starting 1 August

Jon Elder has surfaced a selective Amazon policy change appearing on some sellers' accounts: Amazon will stop accepting credit cards from selected sellers starting 1 August 2026, with no broad announcement. As compensation, Amazon is offering a $2,500/month credit for 5 months to affected sellers: a transitional cushion rather than a structural fix.

AWS UAE data centre hit amid Iran strikes, mec1-az2 offline

Amazon Web Services reported that one of its UAE Availability Zones (mec1-az2) in the ME-CENTRAL-1 region went offline after "objects struck the data centre, creating sparks and fire." The fire department shut off power while extinguishing the fire, with AWS stating restoration will take several hours.
