Apple announces Apple Maps Ads launching in the US and Canada
Apple has announced paid advertising placements inside Apple Maps, launching initially in the United States and Canada. Local businesses will be able to bid on search queries: such as "coffee near me" or "pharmacy": and surface directly in Maps search results, with users able to call, navigate, or order directly from the placement.

What changed
The format is contextual only: no sign-in is required and no cross-app tracking is used. The announcement represents Apple's first significant ad surface expansion beyond the App Store since the rebranding from Apple Search Ads to Apple Ads in April 2025, and arrives as the platform's ad revenue is projected to reach $8.5 billion in 2026.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means local businesses and multi-location advertisers should register interest in Apple Maps Ads early: initial inventory will likely be constrained, and high-intent local categories (food, pharmacy, automotive) will see competitive auction dynamics from launch.
