Claude Code Channels enables remote control via Discord and Telegram
Anthropic has launched Channels in Claude Code: a research preview feature that allows users to connect a persistent local Claude Code session to a Discord or Telegram bot, enabling remote task delegation from a phone or secondary device. Messages sent to the bot arrive as events in the running Claude session; Claude reads the request, executes work on the local machine, and replies back through the same channel.

This video plays in the original LinkedIn newsletter.
What changed
Charly Wargnier demonstrated the setup: create a bot through BotFather (Telegram) or the Discord Developer Portal, install the plugin with /plugin install telegram@claude-plugins-official, configure the token, and restart with the --channels flag. A six-character pairing code secures access, and an allowlist policy ensures only approved senders can push messages. The feature requires Claude Code v2.1.80 or later and is only available with a claude.ai login; Teams and Enterprise organisations must explicitly enable it in admin settings.
The practical implication is that a developer can start a long-running task in Claude Code, step away from their machine, and send follow-up instructions from their phone while the work continues locally. For marketing technologists managing data pipelines, automation scripts, or report-generation workflows, this represents a meaningful shift in how AI coding assistance integrates into daily work rhythms.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means experimenting with Channels for long-running tasks where you need to check in and redirect without returning to the terminal: though the research preview status means both the API and plugin ecosystem may evolve.
