Meta Graph API v20.0 reaches retirement on 24 September

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Meta lists 24 September 2026 as the retirement date for Graph API v20.0. Integration owners should check which version their requests use; Marketing API versions follow a separate schedule.

What changed

Meta's Graph API changelog lists v20.0 as available until 24 September 2026. The 29 July announcement by Ayyad Farah and Manjari Jain also states that Graph API v20.0 will be deprecated and removed on that date. This is an approaching deadline from an existing release announcement, not a new September launch.

The distinction between Graph API and Marketing API matters. Meta presents separate version tables for them. The v20.0 date in this notice belongs to Graph API; it should not be applied indiscriminately to advertising integrations simply because they use a Meta endpoint. An inventory needs to identify the actual API, request version and feature being used before the owner can decide whether this particular deadline affects it.

Start with the integrations behind reporting, connected accounts and other business workflows, and ask their owners for the version recorded in configuration or request logs. A vendor's product name or a recently updated dashboard does not establish the underlying API version. Where a dependency is maintained by a supplier, ask for its migration status and the parts of the workflow covered by its checks.

A version upgrade needs a scoped comparison rather than a blanket claim that everything will keep working. Record the endpoints and response fields the integration relies on, review the applicable official change notes, and have the maintainer validate the expected results before changing a live workflow. Keep the validation record specific: a successful request for one endpoint does not certify an entire connector.

The two official pages agree on the retirement date. PMC has not inspected any reader's requests, executed a migration or tested a connector, and this notice does not assert that a particular tool is broken. Teams already using a supported version may have no action arising from the v20.0 retirement, while still needing to track other versioned changes.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

A scheduled API retirement can affect a workflow behind an otherwise familiar interface. The useful response is to confirm ownership and evidence of the version in use, then close any verified migration gap. Keeping the Graph API and Marketing API schedules distinct avoids sending teams after the wrong deadline.

What to check next

  • Confirm whether any maintained integration uses Graph API v20.0.
  • Ask the integration owner for its migration plan and endpoint-specific validation evidence.
  • Use the official Graph API schedule, keeping Marketing API dates separate.
