Meta launches six May 2026 updates
Bram Van der Hallen has consolidated six Meta Ads updates landing in May 2026.
This update uses a PMC cover because no suitable source image was available when checked on 8 Sept 2026. Available source and video links are retained.
What changed
The creative setup flow is being updated to let advertisers select specific placements for each ad directly at the ad level. Instant Forms can now be generated by either providing a website URL or writing a prompt to Meta AI to create a new lead form. The audience retention window for the Purchase event now supports up to 730 days, allowing advertisers to build a 2-year purchaser audience. Perplexity has been added to Meta's supported AI agents for the Meta Ads AI connector, joining ChatGPT and Claude. The Settings tab in Events Manager has a new "Meta Pixel Settings" section to review and select page and product info that Meta now automatically collects from the Pixel for enhanced data. Advantage+ creative image generation now suggests AI-generated images by category (e.g., "Refined product look", "Popular in your niche", "High return on ad spend").
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means Meta-running accounts should audit each of the six updates against the current campaign and tracking architecture. Particularly relevant for lead-gen accounts (Instant Forms via AI), retargeting strategies (730-day Purchase audience), and creative teams (Advantage+ AI image suggestions). Worth running through each one with the team to identify the highest-impact application for your accounts.
