Bing sponsored-result test shows AI-written Trustpilot review lines
A reported Bing test adds a one-line AI-written customer review from an advertiser’s Trustpilot profile to sponsored results, but its scope is unknown.

What changed
Khushal Bherwani observed Bing sponsored results carrying a one-line, AI-written customer review drawn from the advertiser’s Trustpilot profile. Search Engine Roundtable compared the presentation with Google’s third-party endorsement unit.
Observation, not Microsoft documentation
Microsoft has not documented the format in the cited sources. The sighting does not establish eligibility, rollout scope, selection logic, account controls or whether every advertiser with a Trustpilot profile can appear. It also does not explain how the AI-written line is produced from the underlying reviews.
The comparison with Google’s unit is contextual commentary from Search Engine Roundtable, not evidence that the two products use the same rules, sources or advertiser controls.
Public reputation as ad context
If the presentation expands, public review content may appear beside paid messaging in condensed form. That creates a practical reason to monitor whether the Trustpilot profile accurately represents the business and whether unresolved factual issues remain visible.
The observation does not show that advertisers can approve, edit or suppress the generated line. Nor does it establish that the line faithfully represents the balance of the profile or that it will improve or reduce ad performance.
A proportionate review process
Editorial suggestion: compare any observed line with the Trustpilot profile available on the same date. Record which themes or reviews appear to support it, whether the wording changes the meaning and whether the advertiser identity matches the profile. This creates evidence for a potential escalation without claiming knowledge of Microsoft’s generation method.
Review public-profile accuracy through the platform’s proper processes, but do not attempt to manufacture a more favourable summary. Reputation management and investigation of the Bing format are separate activities.
Capture first-party sightings with the query, date, device, displayed review line and destination. Avoid drawing conclusions from an isolated screenshot about frequency, controllability or performance. Until Microsoft comments, the defensible statement is that the format was observed in at least one sponsored result.
Why it matters for advertisers
A condensed external-review line beside an ad could shape perception before a click. Public profile accuracy may become more operationally relevant, but the sighting provides no evidence of advertiser control or performance effect.
What to check next
- Audit the advertiser’s public Trustpilot profile for factual accuracy and unresolved issues.
- Capture any Bing sighting with its query, date, device, generated line and destination.
- Compare observed wording with the contemporaneous profile without assuming the format is controllable.
