What changed

A consolidated vertical-video workflow

Google has announced Vertical Video Unification in Display & Video 360. The stated capability is intended to let advertisers buy and measure vertical video across channels in one place, with centralised frequency management.

The announcement does not provide availability details. It should therefore not be read as confirmation that every DV360 account can access the capability now or that all supported channels behave identically within it.

Vendor-cited test results need context

Google cites a Hellmann’s and WPP Media test that it says produced 24% more unique reach and a 25% lower cost per unique user. No methodology is provided in the cited material.

These are vendor-reported results from one test, not a benchmark or promise for another advertiser. Without audience definitions, comparison conditions and measurement details, they cannot establish expected incremental reach or cost efficiency.

A useful evidence request should ask what the comparison group was, how a unique user was identified across channels and whether spend, inventory and creative were held comparable. If those questions cannot be answered, the figures remain directional case-study claims rather than planning inputs.

Ask measurement questions before consolidating

Advertisers should ask a DV360 contact about access, supported channels and overlap measurement. Centralised frequency management is only as interpretable as the identity, exposure and reporting assumptions behind it.

For an evaluation, define current channel baselines, the desired reach and frequency outcome, and the handling of overlapping audiences. The announcement supports the consolidated concept, not a conclusion that fewer separate vertical-video buys will improve every plan.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

A unified DV360 workflow could simplify vertical-video planning and frequency management, but access, methodology and advertiser-specific performance remain unresolved.

What to check next

  • Ask the DV360 contact about account access and supported channels.
  • Request the identity, overlap and frequency-measurement methodology.
  • Compare a unified test with documented channel-level baselines before restructuring buys.
