Claude brings Google Workspace add-on and editing connectors into public beta
Anthropic has put a Google Workspace add-on and Google Docs, Sheets and Slides connectors into public beta on paid Claude plans, with distinct in-file and conversation-led modes of work.

What changed
Two distinct integration modes
Anthropic has released a Google Workspace add-on and Google Docs, Sheets and Slides connectors in public beta on paid Claude plans. The add-on operates inside the file currently open, while the connectors allow Claude to create or edit Google files from a conversation.
These modes may support recurring reports or presentations, but they create different access and review considerations. Teams should describe the intended mode precisely rather than treating “Google Workspace integration” as one uniform capability.
Begin with a bounded workflow
Choose one defined document, spreadsheet or presentation process for a pilot. Confirm that existing sharing permissions are appropriate, limit the files in scope and establish how edits will be reviewed before granting access to a broader set.
Review changes against the brief, source material and formatting expectations before accepting them. In Sheets, an edit may affect formulas or structure; in Slides or Docs, it may alter hierarchy, meaning or shared content. These are workflow risks to test, not documented failures of the beta.
Preserve beta expectations
Public beta status does not establish readiness for unattended use. Record what each mode can and cannot complete in the chosen workflow, along with any access, permission or review issues.
The available evidence does not detail connector permissions, feature parity, regional coverage or supported edit behaviour. Anthropic’s official demonstration accompanies this article as a reference for the integration.
Why it matters for advertisers
The add-on and connectors place assistance in different parts of the Google Workspace workflow. Separating those modes helps teams align file access, sharing permissions and human review with the way content will actually be changed.
What to check next
- Choose the in-file add-on or conversation-led connectors according to one clearly bounded pilot workflow.
- Use a limited, non-critical file set with existing sharing permissions reviewed in advance.
- Require explicit inspection of generated or edited material before changes are accepted.
