Gemini 4 Carbon starts with restricted cyber-defender access
Google DeepMind introduced Gemini 4 Carbon for demanding agentic work, with initial access restricted to selected cyber defenders and trusted partners before broader availability. Koray Kavukcuoglu signs the announcement.

What changed
There is no immediate campaign setting to change. Do not assume the model has been committed to BigQuery, the Gemini app or advertising products unless those integrations are separately announced.
The initial access model is a material part of the announcement. Selected cyber defenders and trusted partners are not the same audience as general users of the Gemini app or advertisers in Google Ads. The article therefore does not describe the model as broadly available or imply that every Google product has already adopted it.
The announcement concerns demanding agentic work. A demonstration or stated capability does not establish suitability for a particular production task, especially when access is restricted and the intended evaluation context differs from routine marketing operations. Any later expansion would need its own access terms and product documentation.
For paid-media teams, the immediate value is understanding the direction of AI development rather than changing campaign settings. Keep a watchlist of explicit integration announcements, supported workflows and access requirements. Do not infer a BigQuery, Search or advertising integration merely because the model and those products share a parent company.
If access becomes available for a relevant business use, evaluate the complete workflow, including the quality of the result, required oversight and how the system handles actions across tools. A model name or benchmark does not settle those practical questions. The current announcement does not supply an advertiser-specific performance comparison.
Koray Kavukcuoglu signs the Google DeepMind announcement dated 28 October. He is credited as the announcement author, rather than being inferred as a practitioner who first spotted an account feature. The story keeps restricted initial access and any future broader availability in separate states.
