What changed

CPC has dropped almost weekly, with clicks rising correspondingly. When segmented by placement, "Google search: Top" shows the largest improvement, and Top placements include AI Overviews.

The correlation with the Q4 2024 rollout of ads in AI Overviews suggests AI Max may be placing Ad Grants ads into AI Overview slots, though Google currently provides no report confirming this. Daniel Biggs noticed a similar trend (see image from comments)

For you, this means monitoring your AI Max performance by placement and watching for AI Overview impression data when it becomes available.
