Amazon adds High Price label to product listings
Oleksandr Kovalov has flagged that Amazon has added a "High Price" label to product listings that triggers when three conditions are met: the price is higher than the product's recent history, lower prices are available elsewhere, and the listing is less competitive than similar products. The label appears publicly on the product page, before the Add to Cart button: making the gap between a listing and its competitive set explicit to the shopper at the moment of decision.

What changed
The structural shift is that pricing has moved from a backend signal that affects search ranking to a public, on-page disclosure visible to every shopper. A listing with strong reviews, high ratings, and quality content can still bleed clicks because of three bullet points in a red warning box. The label cannot be appealed: it can only be addressed by adjusting the price against the relevant competitive set.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means that the pricing strategy now has visibility consequences in addition to its conversion consequences. Worth running a structured pricing audit against historical data and competitor benchmarks for any listing where the High Price label is appearing, and treating the label as a near-real-time signal that pricing has drifted out of competitive range.
