Amazon Will Require Brand Packaging for Most Physical Bundles from 11 January 2027
Amazon says most physical bundles sold as one ASIN must be packaged by the original brand or manufacturer from 11 January 2027, with stated exceptions.

What changed
A planned compliance deadline for bundled ASINs
From 11 January 2027, Amazon says most physical bundles listed as a single ASIN must be packaged by the original manufacturer or brand. Amazon announced the policy in early September; Nikolai Tahmin’s later post resurfaced it. The source credit is otherwise undated.
The stated exceptions cover bundles with brand letters of authorisation, gifting browse nodes, camera product types and Virtual Bundles. These are named exceptions, not a basis for assuming that an individual listing qualifies without checking its circumstances.
Advertising exposure depends on listing continuity
Amazon says it will deactivate non-compliant listings and record them as Account Health violations. For paid-media teams, a bundled ASIN becoming unavailable could interrupt campaigns and reporting during a commercially sensitive period.
A useful bundle register should cover ASIN, bundle type, packager, brand relationship, claimed exception, documentation and active campaigns. This preparation does not replace Amazon’s assessment of a listing.
The useful prioritisation decision is not simply which bundles sell most. Review first those with active advertising, substantial seasonal dependence or unclear packaging evidence, because their combination of exposure and uncertainty creates the greatest continuity risk. This is editorial risk triage, not Amazon policy.
Audit ahead of peak planning
Ask whether each physical bundle is packaged by the original manufacturer or brand and whether any claimed exception is documented. Virtual Bundles should be reviewed as a separate category rather than assumed to follow the physical-bundle rule.
The future deadline is specific even though the credited source date is undated. Enforcement workflow details, appeal processes and treatment of edge cases are not provided in the cited material.
Why it matters for advertisers
A bundle’s compliance status can become an advertising-continuity risk because deactivation may remove an actively promoted ASIN and create an Account Health violation.
What to check next
- Create a register of bundled ASINs with active or planned advertising.
- Obtain packaging and authorisation evidence for physical bundles.
- Flag claimed exceptions separately and verify them before peak campaign planning.
