Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

What changed

OpenAI’s ad-creation documentation says the multi-image format entered open beta on 26 October 2026. It is an option alongside single-image ads for standard Reach, Clicks and Conversions campaigns. The documented format uses four to six square images and the same headline and description requirements as a single-image ad.

Every image leads to one shared destination, and Learn more is currently the only supported call to action. This is an uploaded creative format. It should not be confused with the earlier feed-led product carousel reported in August, or with a promise of separate product links for each image.

A useful first creative review is whether the pictures make sense together. For example, a retailer could show different uses of one product range, then send visitors to a collection page that supports all of those uses. That is an editorial example, not an OpenAI recommendation or a measured result. Avoid pairing unrelated offers with a page that explains only one of them.

Before a test, record which images, copy and destination belong to the treatment. Compare results with an existing format using a clear business measure, while noting other changes that could affect the comparison. More clickable images do not establish stronger purchase intent or better conversion quality. Open beta documentation also does not verify that the control is visible in a particular account.

The 26 October date is the format’s documented effective date. The help page does not state an original publication date. No campaign was created, account opened or performance claim independently tested for this report.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

The shared destination changes how a creative set should be planned. Each image needs to make a promise that the same landing page can fulfil.

What to check next

  • Confirm beta access and prepare four to six coherent square images.
  • Check that all images fit the shared destination and Learn more call to action.
  • Keep the creative set and destination documented when comparing outcomes.
