Google Tag Manager · Status at source date: Interface observation

Google Tag Manager Settings menu brings consent controls into view

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Thomas Eccel shared a Google Tag Manager interface showing a Settings menu beneath Overview. His screenshot highlights consent-related controls, including data transmission controls and consent-mode default overrides.

What changed

The observed change is the location and presentation of those controls. Data transmission settings were already documented by Google, so the screenshot should not be used to claim that every capability in the menu was newly launched in November. It also does not demonstrate that a setting changed automatically in an advertiser’s container.

The source image labels the navigation and expands the relevant controls. It is an account observation rather than a release note with a confirmed global rollout date. Availability may differ across containers, account types or interfaces; the post alone does not establish those boundaries.

For a measurement team, a navigation change can still matter when operating instructions refer to an older path. Check whether internal setup notes point colleagues to the correct menu, and confirm the actual setting values before updating documentation. Do not equate a newly visible control with a newly enabled behaviour.

Consent defaults and data transmission decisions should be reviewed in the context of the existing tagging implementation. This article does not prescribe a consent configuration or establish compliance with a particular law. The practical task is to locate and inspect the intended controls, then verify the behaviour using the team’s normal testing process.

Eccel receives First contributor credit for this specific interface report. Google’s help page provides background on the pre-existing data transmission capability. The source date remains a reporting/check date rather than a confirmed feature-release date. The published image uses an original-pixel crop of the interface, with the original post retained for the full annotated version.
