Meta documents reporting for individual media assets and text variations
Meta’s Business Help documentation explains how advertisers can inspect performance for individual media assets and text variations. Andrew Hutchinson covered the reporting controls on 27 October 2026, linking to the official instructions.

What changed
For media assets, Meta directs advertisers to Breakdown, then Creative, then Media. Text variations are available through the Dynamic creative element breakdown. These views can make it easier to inspect the components used within an ad instead of relying only on its combined result.
The media breakdown has an important limit: delivery through additional collection or carousel formats is excluded. Meta also warns that the feature may not yet be available to every advertiser. The documentation supports the reporting workflow, but does not establish a universal launch date or a date when every account will receive it.
How to interpret the breakdown
Use a consistent date range and attribution setting when comparing the component view with the overall ad report. Differences in included delivery can produce totals that do not match, so first check the reporting scope before treating a discrepancy as a tracking failure.
An asset breakdown is descriptive reporting, not a controlled creative experiment. Assets may receive different delivery because of placement, audience, optimisation and the combinations in which they appear. A higher observed result for one component does not prove that replacing every other component with it would reproduce that result.
Use the view to identify questions for a subsequent test: whether a particular message deserves a dedicated variation, whether an image is receiving enough delivery to assess, or whether a placement needs a more suitable format. Preserve the complete ad context when sharing a result with a creative team.
This update concerns individual creative components. It is separate from catalogue product reporting and creative audience-selection controls.
