Meta renames its Advantage+ Audience opt-out to "I need a specific audience"
Meta has changed the wording of the control that turns off Advantage+ Audience, flagged by Jon Loomer and Bram Van der Hallen. The button at the bottom of the Audience section, previously labelled "Further limit the reach of your ads," now reads "I need a specific audience."
What changed
There is no indication that the change is functional: detailed targeting and lookalike inputs behave as before: but the new wording reframes manual targeting as something to reach for only when genuinely needed, nudging advertisers toward Meta's broad, machine-led targeting by default.
It is a copy change with a behavioural intent: making the manual-control path feel like the exception rather than a standard option.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means the route to specific audience targeting is now framed as a special case, though it still works as before. Worth knowing where the control moved and that it is unchanged functionally, so the relabel does not deter you from using specific audiences where they perform.
