Netflix adds measurement tools and plans Trade Desk audience access

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Netflix announced a pixel and expanded conversion API support for more than twenty lower-funnel events, alongside conversion lift, attribution and A/B testing. The Trade Desk audience capabilities are scheduled for November, with in-DSP measurement to follow. These give buyers more ways to connect streaming exposure with outcomes, subject to access and implementation. Define the test and measurement plan before committing spend; the feature announcement is separate from Netflix’s advertising-revenue forecasts.

What changed

What this means in practice

The announcement brings several measurement mechanisms together, but each answers a different question. A pixel or conversion API can supply outcome signals; attribution assigns credit under a chosen model; a lift study tests incremental impact; and an A/B test compares defined alternatives. Access to one does not establish that the others are configured for the same campaign.

A buyer should agree the event definitions, implementation responsibilities and reporting windows before using the new measures to assess investment. For a lower-funnel test, choose an outcome that reflects the business goal and confirm that duplicated or incomplete events will not distort the comparison. Measure actual implementation quality as well as product availability.

Keep the current tools separate from the Trade Desk audience capabilities scheduled for November and measurement still to follow. A planned integration is not an available control in today's account. Ask the relevant buying and measurement partners which capabilities apply to the campaign, then build the test around that confirmed scope rather than the broadest possible interpretation of the announcement.

Nicolle Pangis is the named official author of the announcement. The dates in this article separate that 20 October publication from the planned November audience integration. Retain that distinction in proposals and implementation schedules so an announced future capability is not presented as ready for immediate use.
