Walmart marketplace items are moving into store pickup and delivery
Juozas Kaziukėnas has reported that Walmart is finally bridging its two disconnected ecommerce arms: store pickup and delivery, which have driven most of its growth, and the 500-million-SKU marketplace, which historically has delivered separately on a multi-day timeline. A select assortment of marketplace items will now be available through the same pickup and delivery experience, currently being tested in the Dallas market.

What changed
Walmart's senior vice-president of US Marketplace and Walmart Fulfilment Services has framed the rollout as an intentional test that will scale over time.
The bridge likely flows through Walmart Fulfilment Services (WFS), where marketplace items can be co-located with store inventory. The full 500-million-SKU catalogue is unlikely to be brought into store pickup; it's more of a curated extension. Notably, this is one of the few recent Walmart ecommerce moves that is not a copy of an Amazon initiative.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means Walmart marketplace sellers using WFS should monitor the rollout of pickup and delivery enrolment in test markets: early enrolment may give you more visibility before the system scales.
