What changed

Walmart Connect’s October 2026 Display launch announcements say advertisers can upload keyword and geotargeting inputs while building Onsite Display campaigns and download their entries as CSV files. Walmart describes the feature as bulk import and export for keywords and geo-targeting.

The release announcement establishes the broad capability, while linked setup guides add useful detail about the supported workflows. The keyword-targeting guide says an advertiser can select an upload icon to add a list of keywords from a CSV file, and can download target and negative keywords as a CSV. Downloads can cover all keywords or reflect filters that have been set.

The keyword guide also documents a behaviour that matters when bulk files are used more than once. A new CSV can add further keywords without overriding keywords already added. But if the new file includes a previously uploaded keyword with a different match type, the new match type takes precedence and replaces the earlier one. If the repeated keyword has the same match type, the guide says there is no change.

Walmart recommends downloading the CSV template and matching the keyword list to that template before upload. The source does not say that a CSV import changes match-type rules, bypasses validation or eliminates review. It says keywords are automatically validated, and later says all keywords undergo manual review for relevance and sensitivity. The guide lists Approved, Rejected and Pending Review as possible statuses and says review can take up to three business days.

For geotargeting, the linked guide says CSV uploads can be used for states and cities, DMA codes and names, and ZIP codes. It also says entered locations can be downloaded using the download icon. The guide frames geotargeting as targeting specific US states, cities, designated market areas and ZIP codes, and notes that adding location constraints can reduce eligible impressions and affect delivery estimates.

The evidence supports upload and download workflows for Onsite Display keyword and geotargeting inputs. It does not support claims about API availability, new exclusions functionality, matching-rule changes, automated performance gains or support outside the stated Onsite Display context. The documented overwrite rule is specific to a repeated keyword arriving through a new CSV with a different match type.

The announcement is labelled October 2026 without a specific official date. An exact launch day is not specified.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

Bulk files can reduce manual entry, but repeated keywords may change match type and uploaded terms still pass validation and review.

What to check next

  • Start with Walmart’s CSV template for keyword and location uploads.
  • Compare repeated keywords and match types before submitting a subsequent keyword file.
  • Check validation and review status after upload rather than assuming imported terms are active.
