What changed

Google Merchant Center documentation covers loyalty benefits on AI Mode and Gemini Apps. Those AI shopping surfaces are currently limited to the US, while eligibility differs across countries and surfaces.

Eligibility is surface-specific

A retailer should not assume that a loyalty benefit displayed in one product context will appear in another. The relevant questions are whether the retailer, country, benefit and intended surface meet the current requirements. Product-listing eligibility alone does not establish universal loyalty-benefit visibility.

The US limitation applies to the cited AI Mode and Gemini Apps shopping surfaces. It should not be rewritten as a general statement that every Merchant Center loyalty feature is US-only, because the documentation distinguishes countries and surfaces.

Documentation reference, not launch evidence

The page’s change date is not established. A current help page can explain a capability without proving that it launched during this week or identifying when a particular surface became eligible. This item is therefore a reference for preparation, not a dated release announcement.

The documentation also does not guarantee that a qualifying benefit will be shown for every product, user or query. Eligibility and actual presentation are separate questions.

A retailer preparation test

Editorial suggestion: build a surface-and-market matrix for each loyalty proposition. Record the benefit, membership condition, supporting product data, intended country and intended Google surface. Mark whether each combination is documented as eligible, unconfirmed or unavailable.

Then compare customer-facing wording with the membership terms. A benefit should not be promoted internally as universally visible when it depends on a specific surface or geography. This comparison can also reveal where product data or membership information needs clarification before any AI-assisted presentation is expected.

Check current requirements before planning a campaign or customer message around the feature. Where presentation cannot be verified, use conservative internal forecasts and avoid promising that the benefit will appear.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

Loyalty benefits can have different eligibility across shopping surfaces and countries. Surface-by-surface validation prevents a product listing or US AI capability from being mistaken for universal visibility.

What to check next

  • List each loyalty benefit, its membership conditions and the product data that supports it.
  • Check eligibility separately for AI Mode, Gemini Apps and every other intended surface and country.
  • Avoid customer-facing visibility claims until current eligibility and presentation are confirmed.
