Meta ads MCP adds draft preparation and human co-authoring

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Meta says its ads MCP now lets connected agents prepare work including creative uploads, previews and analysis. Proposed campaign changes can reach Ads Manager as drafts for people to review and co-author, extending an earlier connector announcement rather than launching another connector.

What changed

From connection to prepared work

Meta announced on 6 October 2026 that its ads MCP was adding ways for connected agents to prepare work, including creative uploads, previews and analysis. Proposed campaign changes can arrive in Ads Manager as drafts.

This is a workflow development following the earlier connector announcement. The evidence does not support presenting it as a new MCP launch or as autonomous publication of campaign changes.

Drafts preserve a review point

A draft places proposed work in a state where people can review and co-author it. That distinction matters because preparing an edit is not the same as approving or publishing it.

Organisations considering the workflow should define which tasks an agent may prepare and which decisions require a named person. Changes affecting budget, targeting or brand presentation warrant explicit review because of their potential impact. These governance recommendations go beyond the product facts in Meta’s announcement.

Design the approval workflow

Specify who checks each draft, what supporting evidence is required and when a proposal must be revised or rejected. Start with low-risk examples to assess whether previews, uploads and analyses are complete enough for reliable human review.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

Draft co-authoring can make agent-assisted campaign work more practical while retaining a human decision point. Its safety and usefulness depend on permissions, review ownership and a clear distinction between preparation and publication.

What to check next

  • Map the tasks an agent may prepare and those a person must approve.
  • Assign an accountable reviewer for proposed Ads Manager drafts.
  • Test the workflow with low-risk proposals before extending its scope.
