What changed

They continue operating separately before closing. An acquisition agreement does not establish a unified advertising interface, combined audience access or a date when media buyers should change their buying workflow.

The distinction between signing and closing is central to this story. DoorDash and Instacart have announced an agreement; the transaction remains subject to approvals and other closing conditions. The timetable in the announcement is an expectation, not a date on which advertisers automatically gain access to a combined product.

For retail-media buyers, the strategic interest is the possible combination of commerce technology, delivery services and advertising businesses. That could shape future supply relationships, but the agreement does not specify a single campaign console, a shared audience product or an immediate change to measurement. Those would require separate product and contractual announcements.

Current campaign plans should therefore continue to use the products, terms and reporting that are actually available. Keep account ownership, billing, measurement and retailer relationships documented separately. Do not combine audience estimates or assume that customers reachable through one platform can already be targeted through the other.

A useful follow-up checklist focuses on concrete changes: whether buying access changes, which inventory is included, how data may be used and how performance is reported. Announcements about those subjects would be distinct developments after the transaction agreement. A larger corporate footprint alone does not establish incremental reach or a better return for a particular brand.

The final newsletter dates the announcement to 29 October. DoorDash supplies the primary announcement, with Aisha Malik and James Hercher retained as reporting credits. The story describes the proposed transaction and its implications for planning, without presenting the acquisition as completed.
