Amazon · Status at source date: Seller operations update
Global Warehousing and Distribution now accepts expiration-dated products
Amazon's seller news says products with expiration dates in categories such as Health and Personal Care, Beauty and Baby can now be stored in Global Warehousing and Distribution centres in Shenzhen, Shanghai or Ningbo and replenished to US FBA. Items need at least 365 days of shelf life when the inbound shipment is created and 180 days when they leave GWD; meltable and temperature-sensitive goods remain excluded. Amazon's post is undated but predates the week. Shelf life keeps running while stock sits in China, so plan replenishment so nothing ages out of FBA eligibility.

Earlier coverage and context (2026-10-23)
Amazon’s News_Amazon announcement says eligible expiration-dated products can use Global Warehousing and Distribution facilities in Shenzhen, Shanghai and Ningbo for replenishment to US FBA. This is an inventory and fulfilment update, not an Amazon Ads feature launch.
The notice specifies two shelf-life thresholds: at least 365 days remaining when the shipment is created, and at least 180 days when the inventory leaves GWD. Meltable and temperature-sensitive products remain excluded. Sellers must still check the applicable product requirements before creating a shipment.
Why retail-media teams should notice
Advertising demand and inventory availability are connected. A team promoting products with expiry dates needs visibility into inbound stock and replenishment timing, especially when campaign plans extend over several weeks. The announcement gives operations teams an additional option to assess; it does not remove the need to validate the SKU’s eligibility.
A practical handover would record the relevant batch dates, expected dwell time and destination requirements alongside the promotional calendar. That helps distinguish inventory that can support a campaign from stock that may not remain eligible throughout its route.
Avoid assuming that acceptance at shipment creation guarantees eligibility at every later stage. The separate departure threshold makes the remaining shelf life at replenishment a distinct check. The notice also provides no basis for claiming that advertising costs or delivery performance will improve.
