Anthropic · Status at source date: Research preview
Anthropic opens a research preview of Claude Duet, a proactive agent for small businesses
Claude Duet is a separate app on iOS, Android and the web in which Claude works proactively: it brings items that need attention, carries out tasks and keeps working when the user steps away, built on Claude Opus 5.5 and sharing the Claude account's memory, skills and connected apps, including Shopify, HubSpot and Stripe. It asks before sending anything sensitive, making a payment or deleting data. The preview is by waitlist for US Pro and Max subscribers. Another always-on agent that can touch commerce and CRM data, so keep the approval step on for anything that spends.

Earlier coverage and context (2026-10-21)
Anthropic announced Claude Duet on 21 October as a standalone proactive-agent app in research preview. Access begins through a US waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers, with web, iOS and Android interfaces described in the announcement.
The company presents Duet as a way to carry out ongoing work and check for developments in the background. Usage shares the subscriber’s existing plan limits, including activity performed while the user is away. These are Anthropic’s descriptions of the preview, not independently tested performance findings.
For marketing teams, the relevant development is the move from an individual prompt-response session towards recurring assistance. Any proposed use for research or monitoring still needs a clearly defined scope, a reliable source list and a person responsible for reviewing the output.
What to establish before evaluating it
Agree which information the assistant may access and which actions require human review. A research summary, a draft campaign recommendation and a published change are different outcomes; an evaluation should make those boundaries explicit. The vendor’s stated approval controls should be checked in the actual product before relying on them operationally.
Also track the cost of background activity against the plan allowance. A task that checks frequently can consume capacity without producing a useful new result, so frequency and completion criteria belong in the evaluation.
This is a limited research preview, not general availability or a recommendation to replace an existing workflow. The announcement does not establish that every subscriber can access the app immediately. The accompanying artwork is the official Duet icon, used to identify the product; it is not a screenshot of a demonstrated marketing outcome.
