Google Ads API requires multi-party approvals for sensitive actions
Google is adding multi-party approvals to the Google Ads API for sensitive account actions, announced on the Google Ads Developer Blog. From 27 July 2026, rolling out over several weeks, certain API calls: such as inviting a new user via the access-invitation service: will require a second administrator to approve before they take effect, mirroring a broader change in Google Ads accounts that now require multi-party approval for sensitive actions.
This update uses a PMC cover because no suitable source image was available when checked on 8 Sept 2026. Available source and video links are retained.
What changed
It is a security measure aimed at preventing unauthorised access changes.
For teams building on the API, the change means that workflows that programmatically manage user access or other sensitive actions will need to include an approval step rather than executing immediately.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means API integrations that manage account access will need to handle a second approver step from 27 July. Worth auditing any automation that invites users or changes sensitive settings, so the new approval requirement does not silently break those workflows.
