LinkedIn tests creator In-Stream Ads and rolls out a creator dashboard

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

LinkedIn is testing In-Stream Ads among selected US creators and advertisers, with pre-roll ads alongside eligible creator video.

What changed

Its new creator dashboard is due to roll out globally over the coming weeks. A separate Advice Sessions product enables paid one-to-one consultations for Business Premium subscribers in the US. These are distinct access arrangements, not one worldwide launch. Advertisers interested in creator-video inventory should confirm participation and buying access; creators should check eligibility in the dashboard.

For advertisers, the immediate opportunity is a test of creator-video inventory rather than an unrestricted worldwide buying option. Selected US participation matters when briefing clients: a campaign cannot be planned around access that has not been confirmed. The creator dashboard has a separate global rollout timetable and should not be used as proof that an advertiser can buy In-Stream Ads.

A useful evaluation starts with the intended audience and the role of creator content in the campaign. Confirm participation, the available buying route and what measurement can be accessed before committing budget. Assess whether the creative makes sense beside a creator video, while avoiding an assumption that a creator endorses a brand simply because an ad appears near their content. These are planning considerations, not additional product features announced by LinkedIn.

Creators can use the dashboard announcement as a prompt to check the tools available in their own account, but should distinguish account visibility from eligibility for every monetisation test. LinkedIn also announced paid Advice Sessions with different subscription and country conditions. That consultation product is separate from ad inventory and has existing PMC coverage. Keep the three arrangements distinct when discussing the announcement with colleagues or clients.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

The advertising test and dashboard rollout have different access arrangements.

What to check next

  • Confirm selected-US participation before planning an In-Stream buy.
  • Treat dashboard rollout and advertising eligibility separately.
  • Review creative fit and available reporting before committing budget.
