Meta drops radius exclusions and expands live video ads
Meta has made two changes to its ads, flagged by Karthik Rai. It is removing the option to exclude a radius around a city: city-level exclusions remain, but radius exclusions are no longer supported: and it is bringing live video ads to Instagram and expanding them to Facebook, giving advertisers access to a format tied to live content.

What changed
The targeting change narrows the precision of geographic exclusion, while the live-video expansion opens a new placement for advertisers experimenting with real-time content.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means location exclusions become coarser while a new live-video ad format opens up. Worth checking any campaigns that relied on radius exclusions and reworking them at the city level, and considering whether live video ads fit your creative strategy.
