Meta expands static-to-video generation and separately tests catalogue video

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Meta says video generation from static assets within Advantage+ creative is receiving wider access. A separate beta turns catalogue product imagery into video, so the two capabilities should not be presented as having the same availability.

What changed

Two related developments

Meta announced on 6 October 2026 that access to video generation from static assets was expanding within Advantage+ creative. It also described a separate beta that turns catalogue product imagery into video.

Both concern generated video, but the evidence does not support describing them as one release or one availability state. The first has wider access; the catalogue workflow remains a beta. Neither statement establishes access for every account, market or campaign.

Review the generated presentation

Where a capability is available, compare the generated result with the original asset before approval. Check product appearance, text legibility, visual continuity and whether motion changes the meaning of the offer or the way a product is represented.

For catalogue imagery, sample different product types rather than relying on one successful example. Fine details, embedded text and unusual crops may behave differently when converted into motion. These checks are operational recommendations rather than documented Meta requirements.

Preserve source and decision records

Keep the original static asset with the generated variant and note which version was approved. This gives creative, legal and client teams a basis for identifying presentation changes and revisiting a decision if the output later proves unsuitable.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

Generated video is useful only when the resulting creative remains accurate and usable. Separating broader access from a beta prevents teams from promising an unconfirmed workflow or scaling it before reviewing representative output.

What to check next

  • Track static-asset video generation and catalogue video as separate capabilities.
  • Compare every candidate output with its original product or creative asset.
  • Retain source files and approval records for generated variants.
