Meta replaces Flexible and Collection formats with Format Display Options

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Bram Van der Hallen has also flagged the deprecation of Meta's Flexible and Collection ad formats, which are being replaced by a new Format Display Options system. Under the new model, advertisers using Manual upload see only two base options: Single image or video and Carousel.

What changed

Selecting Single image or video allows up to 10 images or videos by default (replacing Flexible) and exposes Format Display Options that can show products and site links via Carousel and Collection dropdowns. Selecting Carousel exposes options to show cards as single images or as collection tiles.

The change has been described as confusing on rollout. Advertisers must provide site links or products during creative setup before Format Display Options become available.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

For you, this means rebuilding campaign templates and QA documentation for advertisers running on Manual upload. Worth confirming whether the change has reached your accounts and updating internal training materials before media buyers encounter the unfamiliar interface mid-build.
