Microsoft-network ad tests: Copilot CTA, Yahoo reviews and Bing top placements

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Three format sightings on Microsoft-served search this week and last. Ad units on Bing, Copilot and Yahoo are diverging from Google's, so check how your sitelinks and reviews render there before the holiday period.

Three Microsoft-network ad tests: a CTA button in Copilot ads, reviews and popular links on Yahoo, and sponsored results at the very top of Bing. Source visual from the published Week 43 newsletter.

What changed

"Learn more" button on the left of sponsored results inside Bing Copilot answers , Sachin Patel, Search Engine Watch, 13 October; PPC News Feed, 21 October. A review line under a shopping ad and a "popular links" unit on Yahoo search ads , Sachin Patel, Search Engine Watch, 21 October; follows the Bing "Popular Links" test in Week 42. Sponsored ads placed at the very top of the Bing results page , Khushal Bherwani on X, 12 October; PPC News Feed, 20 October. Not covered in Week 42.

What this means in practice

These sightings concern three different surfaces and should not be read as a single Microsoft Advertising rollout. A call-to-action within a conversational answer, review information on Yahoo, and the position of sponsored results on Bing address different parts of the user's journey. None establishes a new advertiser-controlled format available to every account.

The dates also differ. The Copilot example and top-of-page Bing observation are catch-up items from earlier in October; the Yahoo example and later coverage bring them into this week's review. The existing Bing Popular Links story remains separate from the Yahoo placement described here.

For an advertiser, the sensible check is whether its existing assets remain intelligible in the rendered result. Record the query, country, device and surface when reviewing a placement. Compare claims in review snippets with their source, and confirm that any visible destination or action still matches the intended landing experience. A screenshot can establish appearance; it cannot establish exposure share, eligibility, or a performance advantage.

The newsletter groups these account sightings for comparison while preserving their individual dates and credited observers. The shared coverage date is not a launch date for any of the three placements. Check the linked reporting and the selected screenshots for the exact surface each observation describes.
