OpenAI adds product feeds to its ads manager as it builds out a shopping platform
OpenAI is adding product feeds to its ads manager, migrating the feature from ChatGPT's now-defunct instant checkout experience, flagged by Juozas Kaziukėnas. ChatGPT first added product feeds in September to access accurate, up-to-date product and pricing data rather than scraping the web; with checkout discontinued in March and a few merchants having added a feed, the capability is moving to the ads manager.

What changed
The result is an ads manager that increasingly resembles Google's Merchant Centre, with a dedicated section listing product data and ad performance for each listing, and feeds that can be automatically converted into product ads. Feed data will also improve organic product discovery, but the clear direction is monetising shopping intent on ChatGPT through product ads.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means advertisers eyeing ChatGPT as a commerce channel should watch the product-feed capability as the foundation for shopping ads there. Worth preparing a clean product feed so that, as the format matures, your catalogue is ready to power ChatGPT product ads.
