What changed

The Search Central post, signed by Hillel Maoz and Moshe Samet, now carries an update confirming worldwide rollout as of 31 August 2026. Its original June announcement introduced dedicated views for generative AI visibility in Search and Discover. Barry Schwartz's follow-up reports the completion of that rollout, rather than a separate new reporting product.

The reports describe impressions and allow analysis by page, country and date, with device information for Search. They do not provide a separate query or click breakdown in the evidence reviewed here. Google also states that this visibility remains included in the overall performance report. Adding the dedicated-view total to the overall total would therefore risk counting the same visibility twice.

A useful first analysis is to ask which pages appear and where, then compare like-for-like periods. Our interpretation is that a rise in AI impressions can identify a visibility change worth investigating, but cannot establish that those appearances generated visits, leads or revenue. A page might gain visibility without producing a corresponding increase in site sessions. That distinction is particularly important when presenting the new report to stakeholders who are accustomed to treating search reporting as a direct traffic measure.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

The rollout creates a more explicit baseline for monitoring AI-feature visibility. It does not solve attribution by itself. Keep this baseline alongside, rather than blended into, traffic and business-outcome reporting. Use the page and country breakdowns to form specific questions about coverage, then assess those questions with the appropriate additional evidence.

What to check next

  • Check report availability and record the first usable comparison period for the property.
  • Compare page and country impressions over consistent dates; note changes in the pages represented.
  • Avoid summing the dedicated report with the overall report, and label any link between AI visibility and revenue as an analysis question until supported.

Search Console’s generative AI reports complete their global rollout

Google updated its Search Console announcement to confirm that generative AI performance insights had rolled out worldwide by 31 August. The dedicated reports show impressions and breakdowns by page and country, rather than separate click or query reporting, and continue the rollout first announced in June. For you, this means checking report availability and establishing an AI visibility baseline without treating impressions as attributable visits or revenue.
