Shopify announces new agency partner tiers for January 2027
Shopify will replace its agency partner tiers with Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond on 1 January 2027. Atlee Clark’s 4 November announcement says both attributed gross merchandise value and shop count will determine an agency’s tier.

What changed
Silver requires $25,000 in attributed GMV and one shop over 365 days. Gold requires $5 million and five shops over four years, Platinum $50 million and 20 shops, and Diamond $500 million and 25 shops. Agencies should check the programme’s attribution rules rather than treat total client turnover as automatically eligible GMV.
The existing Select, Plus and Premier labels will retire. Promotions move from quarterly to daily, and tiers are locked for six months. Co-marketing funds begin at Gold. The programme describes these as agency-partner rules, not a change to the subscription plan or billing of every merchant served by an agency.
Partners can preview their projected tier in the Dev Dashboard. Shopify also identifies 9 November as the relaunch date for its Partner Directory. That directory date is separate from the January tier change and should not be presented as the day the entire new system takes effect.
For agencies, the immediate task is to compare the projected tier with the merchants and activity attributed to the organisation. Check how the agency describes its existing badge in proposals and on its website, and prepare an accurate explanation of the new tier when it becomes effective. A badge transition is not evidence that a firm’s service quality changed overnight.
