AI Mode ads can read like the next step in a conversation
Venkat’s search examples show sponsored recommendations framed as conversational follow-ups. The useful creative question is whether an ad makes sense after the user’s preceding query, rather than only beside a conventional keyword result.

What changed
These examples do not establish a new campaign setting, general availability or better conversion performance.
When reviewing an example, retain the preceding conversation and the sponsored label alongside the screenshot. Check whether the proposed action matches the landing page. Until there is documented buying access, use the observation to review message and destination consistency rather than to promise a new campaign type to clients.
The conversational context matters because the same sponsored message can feel relevant after one question and premature after another. Reviewing an isolated crop may hide what the user asked, whether they expressed buying intent and what the assistant proposed immediately before the ad. Keep enough context to explain the observation while avoiding the assumption that every similar conversation will show the same result.
An advertiser can prepare by mapping likely customer questions to useful destinations. A question about suitability may need a product comparison, while a request to purchase may need a direct product page. This work improves message continuity even if the reported format remains a limited test. It does not require creating a fictional campaign setting or changing budgets on the strength of a screenshot; the useful output is a clearer relationship between intent, promise and landing-page content.
Why it matters for advertisers
A sponsored follow-up inside an AI conversation can be understood differently from a conventional search result. Advertisers need to consider the question being answered and the promise made by the destination, not just the visibility of the unit.
