Local call tracking: check the number actually used
Reporting attributed to Anthony Higman highlights calls using a Business Profile number in local ad experiences. Compare the displayed number, the destination number, and the reporting path in your own setup.

What changed
This is an older operational observation, not evidence that all Local Services Ads tracking is broken or that every local call bypasses your configured measurement.
Check the live number against location data, call assets and the tracking provider configuration. Test the destination and opening-hours handling through your normal quality process. Investigate discrepancies at the source of the number rather than replacing several configurations at once and losing the ability to identify the cause.
There can be several sources of phone information in a local advertising setup, including the business profile, campaign assets and a separate call-tracking service. The operational question is which number a customer receives in the observed experience and how the call is recorded afterwards. An accurate number in the account interface does not by itself prove that the complete customer-facing route is correct.
Keep a small reconciliation record containing the displayed number, destination, time of the check and expected reporting entry. Where privacy permits, use the business’s existing test-call procedure rather than relying only on screenshots. If the call arrives correctly but is absent from reporting, investigate attribution separately from routing. This prevents a measurement problem from being described as a delivery failure and avoids a number change that fixes one system while breaking another.
Why it matters for advertisers
Call tracking depends on the number actually shown and the route the call takes. A mismatch can break attribution or send customers to the wrong team even when the ad itself looks correct.
