YouTube reporting adds the Attributed Branded Searches metric
Google Ads has introduced a new YouTube reporting metric that addresses one of the channel's longest-standing measurement challenges: the gap between ad exposure and subsequent brand search behaviour. The metric, called Attributed Branded Searches, measures how many people saw a YouTube ad, did not click, and then later searched for the brand on Google.

What changed
This reflects how most users actually behave with video advertising. They watch, move on, remember the brand later, and eventually search for it - a pattern that traditional click-based metrics fail to capture. The new metric begins to close that attribution gap, giving advertisers evidence for the brand-building impact of YouTube campaigns that was previously difficult to demonstrate within standard reporting. For agencies and in-house teams that have struggled to justify YouTube spend to stakeholders focused on direct-response metrics, this provides a more complete picture of campaign value.
