Custom audiences coming next to ChatGPT Ads
Juozas Kaziukėnas has flagged the next major feature on the ChatGPT Ads roadmap: custom audiences. The feature will let advertisers upload raw or hashed email addresses and phone numbers to ChatGPT Ads, matching them against ChatGPT user accounts to enable targeting existing customers, retargeting website visitors with known contact details, and excluding current customers from prospecting campaigns.

What changed
The pattern mirrors Customer Match in Google Ads, Custom Audiences on Meta, and the various Audience-matching surfaces on Microsoft, LinkedIn, and TikTok: making ChatGPT Ads structurally closer to the mature audience-targeting capabilities of those platforms. The arrival of custom audiences is the logical next step after product feed campaigns (covered Week 19): both move ChatGPT Ads from "experimental surface" toward "production-grade ad platform" feature parity.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means that e-commerce and CRM-driven advertisers should plan a hashed email audience-prep workflow for ChatGPT Ads. Worth ensuring your CRM exports are clean and segmented enough to feed multiple platforms: Google Customer Match, Meta Custom Audiences, and now ChatGPT custom audiences: without manual reconciliation between platforms.
