Google Ads Editor 2.12 ships with 12 new features
Google has released Ads Editor version 2.12, one of the most substantial updates to the desktop tool in recent memory. The release spans campaign management, creative controls, and bidding, with changes that affect practically every campaign type.
This update uses a PMC cover because no suitable source image was available when checked on 8 Sept 2026. Available source and video links are retained.
What changed
Performance Max sees two notable expansions: the video limit per asset group has risen from 5 to 15, giving the algorithm more creative variation to test, and 9:16 tall portrait images are now supported for YouTube Shorts placements. Demand Gen campaigns receive new customer acquisition goals, hotel feed integration, and brand guidelines: allowing advertisers to constrain AI-generated creative within defined brand parameters. A global $5 minimum daily budget is now enforced for all newly created Demand Gen campaigns, aligning the desktop tool with the API restriction announced last month.
For Search and Performance Max, text guidelines are now supported in Editor: up to 25 term exclusions and 40 messaging restrictions per campaign. Campaign total budgets are available for Search, Shopping, and PMax, enabling fixed-spend flighted campaigns from 3 to 90 days. A new Link Check Find and Replace tool allows bulk URL replacement across accounts, and Final URL Expansion assets now have a dedicated reporting tab. The release also adds explicit filtering for Pending, Ended, and Draft campaign statuses.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means updating Ads Editor before creating or modifying campaigns that rely on PMax video, Demand Gen NCA goals, or text guidelines: older versions will not support these fields.
