Google documents Automotive Model Feeds beta for OEM Search ads
Google’s undated help documentation describes a beta for vehicle manufacturers to add model-level feed information to eligible Search text ads. PPC News Feed covered the documentation on 14 October 2026; that is a coverage date, not a confirmed feature launch date.
What changed
Google Ads documentation describes Automotive Model Feeds and Vehicle Top Ads as a beta aimed at vehicle manufacturers (OEMs), rather than a general dealership inventory product. An eligible Search campaign can use a model-level Business Data feed to present vehicle images, pricing and features alongside text ads. The documentation lists the US, Canada, Australia and the UK, and says advertisers need an active Search campaign, a valid automotive model feed, allowlisting and contact with a Google sales representative. On mobile, the result may appear as a carousel or list containing two to five models. The model or configurator destination can differ from the text-ad headline destination.
This should be assessed separately from dealer vehicle-inventory activity. Dealer inventory is generally concerned with an individual vehicle and its VIN-backed availability; the documented beta is instead model-led. After Google allowlists the account, a manufacturer might prepare distinct model or trim entries such as entry, sport and premium variants for a hatchback range. The useful test is whether every displayed model or trim has a landing page that preserves the same selection, price context and market availability. Sending a premium trim card to a generic model page may be technically possible, but can make the advertised configuration difficult for a buyer to locate.
A practical pre-flight check is to map each feed row to its final page: model name, trim or configuration, image, price qualification, destination and campaign market. Mark any row where the model card, ad copy and landing page use different naming conventions. Advertisers should also confirm that prices are suitable for public presentation, identify whether they are starting prices or configuration-specific figures, and check mobile rendering where the carousel/list format matters most. Treat allowlisting as an eligibility step, not evidence that every intended campaign or creative treatment has been approved.
PPC News Feed covered the documentation on 14 October. Barry Schwartz’s 15 October coverage credits Hana Kobzová as the documentation spotter. Source priority is not proven. Google’s source page is undated, so neither the coverage nor the page establishes when the capability was added or changed.
Why it matters for advertisers
The distinction between OEM model merchandising and dealer VIN inventory helps teams choose the right feed, destination design and validation process before requesting beta access.
What to check next
- Confirm that the advertiser is an OEM and that the intended countries are within the documented markets.
- Create a model-and-trim landing-page matrix before submitting feed rows for validation.
- Ask the Google sales representative which campaign, feed and allowlisting requirements apply to the account.
