Google Shopping ads now appear in the Images tab on mobile
Matteo Braghetta has spotted sponsored product ads appearing directly inside Google's Images tab on mobile search results, displayed as sponsored image and text units clearly labelled as "Sponsored." The placement is distinct from standard Search and Shopping placements, reaching users in discovery mode rather than transactional intent.

What changed
Eligible campaigns appear to gain incremental impressions without changes to keyword targeting.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means monitoring whether your campaigns are gaining impressions from this placement via the "Click type" or "Ad network" segment: early indications suggest impression-heavy, lower-CTR behaviour consistent with an upper-funnel discovery surface.
