Google will spend your full monthly budget regardless of the ad schedule
Google has begun notifying advertisers of a significant change to how ad scheduling interacts with budget pacing. Starting in March, the system will attempt to spend the full monthly budget regardless of when campaigns are scheduled to run.

What changed
For advertisers using ad scheduling to limit spend to business hours - a common practice in B2B and lead generation - this represents a meaningful shift in how Google interprets budget constraints.
The practical implication is that Google may bid more aggressively during scheduled hours to compensate for time when ads are paused. An account that runs ads only during weekday business hours, for instance, could see higher CPCs as the system tries to exhaust the monthly budget in fewer available hours. Jordan Fry, who received the notification directly from Google, raised concerns about whether this amounts to forced overspend. Advertisers relying on ad scheduling as a budget control mechanism should revisit their bid strategies and consider whether daily budgets need adjustment to maintain pacing discipline.
