Help-page update clarifies primary conversion actions not used for optimisation
Dario Zannoni has flagged a quiet but consequential update to Google's Help pages: primary conversion actions not used for bidding optimisation may be treated differently than expected. The clarification updates the public documentation to explicitly state how primary conversions feed (or don't feed) into Smart Bidding optimisation when they're not selected as the optimisation goal.

What changed
For measurement teams, please audit conversion configurations with multiple primary actions against the new clarification. Conversion actions marked as "primary" but not selected as the bidding goal may not be influencing Smart Bidding the way some practitioners have assumed.
Please review the Google Ads accounts with complex conversion configurations: multiple primary actions, value-based goals, and distinct lead-stage signals: against the updated Help page. Particularly relevant for B2B and ecommerce accounts running enhanced conversions with multiple conversion types, where the relationship between "primary" status and bidding influence may have been operating differently than documented.
