Instagram API adds partnership ads label, new metrics, collaborative media, and engagement actions
Meta has published a substantial update to the Instagram Graph API, available through the Instagram API with Facebook Login. The Content Publishing API now supports the partnership ads label at publish time: third-party scheduling tools can publish organic posts with the "Paid partnership with [Brand]" disclosure label, including brand tagging via the Business Discovery API for brand ID lookup.

What changed
Both branded and non-branded partnership disclosure variants are supported across photos, Reels, carousels, and Stories.
New engagement metrics include Reposts Count, Saved Count, and Shares Count on the Media endpoint, and Total Views, Total Likes, and Total Comments aggregated across Instagram, cross-posted to Facebook, and boosted media on both Media and Insights endpoints. The facebook_views metric now extends from Reels to Feed posts and Stories, and includes content recommended from Instagram to Facebook. New collaborative media endpoints let developers retrieve and search media on which a user is an accepted collaborator. A new Like Media and Comments API: under the instagram_manage_engagement permission: enables third-party platforms to like or unlike posts and comments on behalf of users.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means social media management platforms will gain materially better Instagram measurement, more accurate performance reporting, and new ways to manage engagement workflows. Worth flagging to any in-house teams operating creator partnership programmes through third-party scheduling tools.
