Meta launches first prescription-optimised AI glasses with nutrition tracking and WhatsApp AI features
Meta has introduced Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (Gen 2): its first AI glasses designed specifically to support nearly all prescriptions, featuring adjustable hinges and optician-adjustable temple tips. Starting at $499, they are available for pre-order in the US from March 31, with availability in optical retailers from April 14.

What changed
Alongside the new frames, Meta announced several software updates rolling out this spring: hands-free nutrition tracking via voice prompt or photo with Meta AI logging and personalised dietary insights; WhatsApp chat summaries and recall through the glasses ("Hey Meta, catch me up on my messages"), processed on-device with end-to-end encryption; Neural Handwriting coming to iMessage; and pedestrian navigation expanding to all US cities in May.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means Meta's AI glasses ecosystem is expanding beyond early adopters toward mainstream prescription wearers: a growing, always-on surface with significant implications for audio and contextual ad formats as the installed base grows.
