Meta releases official MCP and Ads CLI for AI-driven ad management
Meta has released official infrastructure to connect AI clients directly to Meta Ads, addressing the same problem set that led to the unofficial-MCP ban wave covered in Week 17. The launch has two components.

What changed
The Meta Ads MCP exposes the Marketing API to AI clients: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any compatible client: with full read and write access to query campaigns, create new ones, update budgets, and run diagnostics. The Meta Ads CLI packages the same capability for developers and agentic workflows, supporting JSON, table, and tab-separated output for use in scripts, terminals, and CI/CD pipelines. Resources created via the CLI default to PAUSED status until explicitly activated.
Authentication runs through standard Meta login rather than personal Developer App tokens, removing the trigger pattern that has been producing personal-profile and Business Manager bans. Bram Van der Hallen has published a step-by-step walkthrough of integrating with Claude; Ahmed Ali has confirmed installation in Claude with a working setup; Thomas Eccel has framed this as the official answer to the Week 17 ban warning; and Oleh Tarasyuk has documented the broader implications for cross-channel reporting and campaign management workflows.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means there is now a sanctioned path for the Meta Ads + AI workflows that have been driving account suspensions over the past quarter. If you have been running an unofficial MCP setup or building automation against personal access tokens, migrate to the official infrastructure as a priority: the cost of a Business Manager ban is significantly higher than the cost of a controlled migration. Worth piloting on a low-stakes account before rolling into agency tooling. How to connect Meta Ads to Claude
