Meta sets October deadlines for US political and social-issue ads
Meta will restrict new US social-issue, election and political ads from 27 October through 3 November. Its planning deadlines fall earlier: authorisation by 13 October and ad submission by 20 October.
What changed
The restriction starts at 12:01 AM Pacific Time on 27 October 2026 and ends at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on 3 November. It applies to US ads about social issues, elections or politics, not all Meta advertising.
Eligible ads can continue only if they have a valid disclaimer and have already delivered an impression before the restriction starts. During that period, advertisers may change bids, budgets and scheduled end dates, or pause and resume eligible ads. Creative, placement, targeting and optimisation changes are not permitted.
Why it matters for advertisers
Submitting an ad does not establish that it has served. Teams running affected campaigns should leave time for authorisation, review and first delivery, then verify eligibility before the cutoff.
What to check next
- Complete authorisation and the approved disclaimer by 13 October.
- Submit affected ads by 20 October, as Meta recommends.
- Check delivery before the cutoff and review the original restrictions before editing.
